Twitter announces its official renaming to X Corp., notifying its business clients. However, the Twitter service will continue to be known as Twitter.
Twitter Inc. was officially renamed to X Corp., according to an email sent by the company to its business customers. The platform said that going forward, the company’s business customers “may refer to X Corp. in place of Twitter, Inc. for all contracting, billing and other records you may have. There is no change to our tax id number. For clarity, this is not a change of control and X Corp. is the successor in interest to Twitter, Inc.”
X Corp. (formerly, Twitter, Inc.) also clarified that the change only affected the company name. At the same time, the Twitter service will continue to be called Twitter. The company has made some updates to its Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Data Processing Agreement, and other terms and policies as applicable to reflect that Twitter, Inc. is now X Corp.
The update comes after Twitter merged with X Corp., which became known from documents filed in early April. Earlier, Elon Musk suggested that the purchase of Twitter would be the accelerator of the creation of the super app. His idea of the “Everything App” implies that it will be similar to the Chinese WeChat. It will include everything from regular social networking to online payments.
