SUBARU ADOPTS TESLA NACS FOR ITS EVS

Subaru announced it is adopting Tesla’s North American Сharging Standard (NACS) for its electric vehicles after reaching an agreement with the Texas manufacturer. An extensive charging network will be available for Subaru EVs starting in 2025, when they go on sale in North America.

To provide customers with access to the Tesla Supercharger Network, Subaru will implement NACS ports on select North American Subaru BEVs starting in 2025. After this, the company will continue to produce its subsequent BEVs with new charging ports.

Subaru also plans to provide access to an adapter for charging at Tesla Superchargers. Adapters are required to charge electric vehicles equipped with a combined charging system (CCS). NACS-compliant Subaru BEV customers will have access to more than 15,000 Tesla Superchargers across North America. At this point, most of the major automakers have already adopted Tesla NACS. These include such American giants as Ford and General Motors, as well as the German BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

Under the new management structure established in June 2023, Subaru has announced a goal of “aiming for 50% of total global sales to be BEVs in 2030” to contribute to achieving carbon neutrality.
