Tesla is working to expand its offerings across various vehicle segments. The company already has vehicles in all the popular ones, but is looking to add an affordable compact electric car to its lineup. With this in mind, Tesla has talked about a model costing around $25,000, and plans to begin production are close.
During the visit to Giga Berlin on Friday, Elon Musk met with employees. He thanked them for their work and later called the factory the “Pearl of Germany.” In addition, as reported by @Gf4Tesla/X, he said the factory will produce a new-gen car for €25,000.
Although other details have not been announced, it is likely that the current production facilities will not be converted for this purpose. Tesla has applied for an expansion in Germany to build a new production facility. It seems that production of the new generation car will begin there.
Initially, Tesla planned to begin production of the new car model at a new factory in Mexico. At this point, the company has even received the necessary permits to begin construction. However, the difficult economic situation is causing Tesla to slow down, as Musk said during the Q3 2023 Earnings Call. He said that the factory in Mexico will definitely be built, but the question of when exactly this will happen has not yet been resolved.
In a new biography about Elon Musk, Walter Isaacson mentioned the production of a new generation car. According to information, Tesla may begin its production at Giga Texas. This factory has the space to house a production line and the company’s best talent to ensure a successful product launch.
This seems to make a lot of sense. Tesla will initially launch production of the new car at Giga Texas, followed by production at Giga Germany and China, where it already has factories and established supply chains. The construction schedule for new Tesla factories remains unknown due to economic instability in the world.
