Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup xAI has officially unveiled its first product, Grok. According to the description, it is “an AI modeled after the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, so intended to answer almost anything and, far harder, even suggest what questions to ask!” The model is designed to answer questions with wit, which should be taken into account by those who use it.

As the company noted, Grok’s unique and fundamental advantage is that it receives real-time information about the world through the 𝕏 platform. The AI is designed to answer even the most spicy questions that most other artificial intelligence systems reject. That being said, keep in mind that Grok is still in early beta, but it will continue to improve thanks to 𝕏 users.

xAI strives to create artificial intelligence tools that will assist humanity in its quest for understanding and knowledge. “Our ultimate goal is for our AI tools to assist in the pursuit of understanding,” the company wrote.

At the moment, Grok has been training for only two months. However, in tests, it is already surpassing all other models in its compute class, including ChatGPT-3.5 and Inflection-1. It is only surpassed by models that were trained with a significantly larger amount of training data and compute resources like GPT-4.

Currently, xAI is inviting a limited number of users in the US to try out the Grok prototype and provide feedback. This will help improve the product before a wider release.
