Following rumors of a gigafactory in Spain, Tesla’s name has once again gained attention in the country. According to the local media, El Economista, the company has created Tesla Spain Holdco, headquartered in Barcelona. This means Tesla is considering major investments in Spain and wants to control its stakes in companies in the country.
As stated in the Official Gazette of the Commercial Register, the corporate purpose of the new “portfolio” company is the “acquisition, possession, enjoyment, administration, direction and management of securities and/or shares of Spanish or foreign companies or entities, residents in Spain or abroad, etc.” At the head of the holding, the company appointed two senior Tesla executives: one of its global vice presidents and head of the tax department, Joseph Aaron Gruber, and the territorial director of the brand in Southern Europe, Adam Michael Horton.
The legal address is registered at Calle De la Metalurgia 38-42, Barcelona, near Tesla’s headquarters in Spain. Both the holding company and the company’s representative office in Spain report to Tesla International BV, based in Amsterdam, from where they control the business in Europe.
