India is accelerating its efforts to welcome Tesla to the country. Government departments are actively working to issue the necessary permits for the start of its operation by January 2024. The Economic Times reported that the Prime Minister’s Office held an important meeting. The focus was on accelerating Tesla’s entry into the Indian market.
According to the report, the meeting was mainly devoted to electric vehicle policy. It was within this framework that the need to speed up processes for the arrival of Tesla was emphasized. This was confirmed by the commerce and industry, heavy industry, and electronics and IT ministries, which are familiar with the discussions between Elon Musk and Narendra Modi that took place in the US this year.
Tesla’s top management has presented its plan to the government to set up car and battery manufacturing bases in India. Musk’s comments after meeting with Modi also indicated that the company intends to actively develop in the country. Local officials are calling on the government to smooth out any problems with Tesla to speed up the start of the company’s production plans in India.
