Tesla Giga Shanghai Boosts Car Deliveries in China In October by 66% YoY

The China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) released Tesla’s Chinese factory delivery data for October, showing how many vehicles were sold domestically and how many were exported. The data showed that of 72,115 vehicles produced by Giga Shanghai, 43,489 were exported. This means Tesla delivered 28,626 vehicles to China in October. This is 66.43 percent more than last year. At the same time, this is 34.2 percent less than in September. This is explained by the fact that in the first half of the quarter, deliveries to the domestic market are the weakest since the factory produces for export. Meanwhile, deliveries in the last month of the quarter are always more oriented towards export. September was the last month of Q3 and October was the first month of Q4.

Exports from Giga Shanghai fell 20.21 percent year on year in October. At the same time, it increased by 42.28 percent compared to September.

According to the CPCA, of the 72,115 Chinese-made Teslas sold in October, 47,164 were Model Ys and 24,951 were Model 3s. Deliveries of Model 3 continue to increase as the factory gradually ramps up production of the updated car.

Tesla delivered 462,355 vehicles to China between January and October. This is 37.87 percent more than last year. Of these, 308,816 vehicles were exported, up 40.74 percent from last year, according to data tracked by CnEVPost.
