Swedish union IF Metall is offering Tesla employees compensation of more than 130% of their wages to encourage them to take part in the ongoing strike. The measure highlights the union’s desperation since company employees ignored the strike.
The strike in Sweden, now in its third week, has received significant support from prominent national organizations. However, it still lacks the support of Tesla employees. Two weeks ago, company employees refused to take part in the strike, which was confirmed by local media. Now, the union is offering company employees more than 130% of their salary to join. This highlights IF Metall’s desperate moves as Tesla employees refuse to go on strike.
The strike in Sweden began by IF Metall after Tesla refused to sign a collective agreement. The union argues that a collective agreement would guarantee employees better working conditions and higher wages. However, the company’s employees in Sweden reported that they believed their current working conditions and wages were superior to those of their previous jobs. It is noteworthy that those employees who expressed their opinion chose to remain anonymous due to fears of possible consequences not from Tesla, but from the union.
