Construction of the Tesla Gigafactory in Santa Catarina, Mexico is expected to begin in the first quarter of this year, according to local government estimates. The assumption was made based on the fact that Nuevo León has made significant progress in some preliminary infrastructure works requested by the company.
“Tesla is not guided by electoral issues, they are all over the world and always in a hurry. I believe that this January the accesses, avenues and ramps will be noticeable, which is the state’s responsibility,” said the governor of Nuevo León, García Sepulveda, according to Mexico Now. He noted that as soon as these works are completed, construction of the factory itself will begin. The governor said he expects this to happen in the first quarter of the year.
“We are waiting for that and I hope it will be as soon as possible. The state started in December, and it will be noticed this January; internally, within the land, the factory should start (its construction) this quarter,” he added.
