Neuralink hopes to implant its second human patient soon

During Neuralink’s X livestream, Elon Musk and company executives gave a rare insight into the company’s progress and outlined plans for the future. In the next week or so, Neuralink plans to implant its chip in a second human patient. He said he hopes the number of participants testing the device will reach high single digits by the end of the year.

Neuralink works to significantly improve the quality of people’s lives by giving people with disabilities a chance at a normal life. One day, the company’s developments will give people superpowers and allow them to control robots with the power of thought, according to Musk’s statement.

“I think cybernetic superpowers are likely in the future,” he wrote in a post on X.

Musk suggested that in the future, amputees equipped with the Neuralink device could potentially move prosthetic limbs faster than they could before losing the limb. This opportunity will be in addition to the company’s commitment to finding a solution to treat epilepsy and cure paralysis. Although the latter is a very difficult problem, “but ultimately solvable.” In the future, Neuralink users will also be able to use the device to control the Tesla Optimus humanoid robot with their thoughts.
