Ngen Launches Tesla Megapack Energy Storage Project in Austria

Ngen from Klagenfurt, Austria has launched an energy storage facility powered by Tesla Megapacks. The 24-megawatt-hour project was built and commissioned in just seven months.

Energy storage project developer Ngen said it has commissioned Austria’s largest battery storage plant. The plant has a capacity of 12 megawatts and a capacity of 24 megawatt-hours. It is designed to help stabilize the grid and temporarily store more green electricity.

The large storage facility in Fürstenfeld is equipped with six Tesla Megapacks 2XL. According to Ngen, the storage facility was designed, built, and commissioned in record time.

The new power plant will act as a buffer, especially during peak periods when demand for electricity exceeds supply, and will thus increase supply security. The significance of the project for the company goes beyond the region. Fürstenfeld is just the beginning. In the future, large electricity buffer zones are planned throughout the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) and beyond.
