Tesla Giga Shanghai Delivers 64,285 Vehicles in July, Up 128% YoY

Tesla Giga Shanghai delivered 64,285 vehicles in July. This reflects an increase of 128% over the same period last year. Giga Shanghai alone has delivered over 540,000 vehicles so far this year.

According to data released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), Tesla China sold a total of 64,285 vehicles manufactured by Giga Shanghai in July. This number includes cars sold domestically and exported abroad. This reflects a 127.8% increase from 28,217 vehicles sold last year. At the same time, this is a decrease of 31.4% compared to June.

It is worth noting that Tesla warned of a decline in manufacturing figures in the third quarter. This is due to factory retooling during this period. Although Tesla did not reveal details, it is likely this is a production switch to the new Model 3 Highland. According to rumors that surfaced today, Giga Shanghai has begun a smooth transition to production of the new Model 3. This means that new equipment for its production was supposed to be installed last month, which may explain the slowdown in Giga Shanghai production compared to a month earlier.

Deliveries of Giga Shanghai in the first seven months of this year amounted to more than 540,000 vehicles. This exceeds the number of vehicles delivered by all of the company’s factories in 2021 as a whole.
