The police are clearing the camp of the anti-Tesla Giga Berlin protesters, which has been in the forest for almost nine months. According to the police, it will be completely disbanded due to massive violations of public safety and order.

Since the end of February 2024, the activists have occupied the forest in Grünheide and built numerous tree houses. They have repeatedly violated the rules and committed crimes, the German Press Agency (dpa) quotes police spokesman Daniel Keip as saying. Contact with the protest leadership could not be established, so the police could no longer assume that the protesters would be peaceful.

The activists were initially supposed to temporarily clear part of their forest camp with tree houses due to the search for ammunition from the Second World War. However, they refused to comply with the demands and some of them climbed to great heights between the trees. High-altitude police rescuers were forced to remove six people from their tree houses because they did not want to leave.

The area around Giga Berlin has been checked for explosive devices for some time now in connection with the planned expansion.
